Octogenarian Sherchan to ascent Mt Everest again

KATHMANDU, Nepal – Octogenarian Min Bahadur Sherchan is going to climb the Mt Everest on April 24, the Republic Day, to create a world record.

Eighty-three years and nine months old Sherchan had climbed the Mt Everest at the age of 76 on May 25, 2008 and set the record of the oldest person to climb the world’s highest peak.

Serchan is going to climb the Mt Everest again after a Japanese national, Yuchiro Miura, broke the record of Serchan.

Serchan is scheduled to leave Kathmandu for Lukla on April 24.

At a news conference organized here today, Chief at the Tourism promotion Department and Publicity Department Deputy-Chief of the CPN-UML Surya Thapa wished Serchan for his success by offering a shawl.

Born at Bhurung-9 in Myagdi district, Sherchan is an ex-Gurkha army serviceman.
