Kathmandu is listed in ninth position in the list of world’s most affordable city. According to the survey of the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) done among 133 cities around the world Kathmandu was listed in 125th place making it a ninth cheapest city. Earlier, Kathmandu was listed as the seventh cheap city.
Before, Kathmandu was in seventh position but due to the increase in the price of the daily uses goods and other commodities now it is in the ninth position
Prepared on the basis of the New York, Karachi of Pakistan is the most affordable city in the world in the list of Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) on the basis of Cost of Living Index.
Among the 10 cheapest cities of the world 6 are in South Asia. Karachi of Pakistan and Bangalore of India jointly are in the bottom of the list while the Mumbai is in the third place. Chennai is in the fifth place, New Delhi is the sixth and Nepal's Kathmandu is ninth. Caracas of Venezuela is in fourth place of the cheapest city list, the seventh is Damascus of Syria, eighth is Algiers of Algeria and Teheran of Iran is in tenth position.
This index was prepared on the basis of comparative studies of the cost of food, clothing and other daily expenses, including materials and merchandise of 160 kinds.
